FS RESPONSE TEAM
23/08/2025
On 23/08/2025, response members received information regarding an attack in Voortrekker Street, Bothaville and were immediately activated.
Upon arrival, responders assessed the scene. The suspects had already fled. Both victims were found tied up:

Male victim: Sustained a wound on the cheekbone below the left eye from being struck.

Female victim: No visible injuries but was visibly traumatized.
Witnesses reported that both suspects were wearing dark clothing and balaclavas and were of medium build. One suspect’s balaclava was left at the scene near the male victim; this suspect had a round face.
ER24 was called to the scene. SAPS arrived shortly afterward, followed by the ambulance. The SAPS forensic team from Welkom was notified. Both victims were examined and initially cleared. Later, the male victim was transported to hospital for observation due to concerns of a possible skull fracture.
The responder team conducted a patrol in the surrounding area to locate the suspects. CCTV footage from nearby locations was reviewed to determine possible directions of escape; however, no suspects were apprehended.
Feedback was provided to SAPS, and responders subsequently stood down. The scene was officially handed over to SAPS.
Losses and Scene Findings:

Suspects fled with two firearms, R20 in cash, and a knife.

Footprints were found at the scene.

The outer gate’s lock had been unlocked.
