Response members responded to a call for assistance in Longtom Avenue, Elandspoort. Upon arrival, they found a male suspect seated on the ground with community members present. CMS Crime Prevention was also on scene. The suspect admitted to the reaction member that the panga found on scene—which had been attached to the rope tied to the electricity cable—belonged to him. The individual who caught the suspect in the act chose not to proceed with a formal complaint to SAPS.
The reaction member transported the following items found on scene to the Pretoria West Police Station, where they were booked into SAP13:
4-meter red heavy-duty tie-down strap with hook
6-meter white ratchet strap
5-meter orange heavy-duty tie-down strap
1 x ratchet
1 x water pump pliers
1 x green pruning shears
1 x orange garden pruning shears
1 x panga with handle wrapped in white tape
1 x small axe
1 x black and grey backpack
