NCA SUCCESS REPORT
FS RESPONSE TEAM
01 JUNE 2026
A NCA responder received a call from an NCA Reaction Officer in Bothaville, reporting that his wife had just been the victim of an attempted robbery outside a crèche where they had gone to collect their children. According to the information provided, she had parked her vehicle in front of the premises, leaving their daughter asleep inside. She briefly exited the vehicle to collect their son at the gate. While returning to the vehicle and moving to the driver’s side, with her handbag over her shoulder and preparing to re-enter, she was confronted by a suspect. During the confrontation, the suspect grabbed her handbag. A struggle ensued, during which she successfully retained her belongings. Her cell phone remained inside the vehicle. She immediately contacted her husband, who then informed the NCA responder on duty. A coordinated patrol was initiated in the area. During the patrol, the suspect was observed multiple times; however, each time he became aware of the responders’ presence, he evaded detection. It is suspected that he entered nearby shops to avoid being apprehended and would reappear once patrol vehicles had moved out of sight. A later attempt by a responder to confront the suspect and obtain a photograph was unsuccessful, as the suspect once again evaded him. This was the last confirmed sighting of the individual. The responder on duty requested that the victim provide a formal statement at SAPS to ensure that the incident is properly recorded. The suspect was positively identified. All units responded effectively. No injuries were reported, and all members are safe and accounted for.
NCA extends its sincere appreciation to all role players for their swift response, effective coordination, and professional cooperation, which contributed to the successful handling of this incident.
