NCA SUCCESS REPORT
FS RESPONSE TEAM
04 MAY 2026

NCA Responders received a request for assistance from SAPS at the Shell Garage. Information indicated that a vehicle was travelling from the North West area toward the toll gate en route from Klerksdorp to Bothaville. Initial reports suggested that a shooting had occurred in the Kanana near the town of Orkney and that three vehicles involved were potentially occupied by armed suspects. Responders reacted immediately and joined SAPS members. The team proceeded to a strategic road crossing at the Bothaville / Viljoenskroon / Leeudoringstad intersection, where they positioned themselves in anticipation of the approaching vehicles. While on standby, updated information was received from SAPS indicating that additional units were actively following the suspect vehicles along the Welkom road. Responders immediately redeployed to that area. Approximately 10 km outside of town, confirmation was received that the vehicles had been successfully stopped and searched by responding units. No firearms or illegal items were found, and as a result, no arrests were made. Responders subsequently stood down and returned to service.

NCA extends its sincere appreciation to all role players for their swift response, effective coordination, and professional cooperation, which contributed to the effective handling of this incident.
