Police uncovered a suspected cloned ambulance, along with emergency service uniforms and medical equipment, at a residential property in Randfontein, West Rand, following a tip-off that led to a raid on the premises. According to police, the property owner, an elderly male, stated that the yard had been rented out and that the vehicle had been parked there by the tenant. During the operation, authorities discovered: A fully branded ambulance, Emergency service uniforms and Medical bags and related equipment. Authorities suspect that the vehicle may have been used in the commission of serious crimes by exploiting public trust in emergency services. Investigations are ongoing to determine who operated the vehicle, the extent of its use, and whether it is linked to other criminal activities. Further arrests are expected as the investigation progresses. The incident highlights the serious risk posed by criminals impersonating emergency personnel, which could enable them to bypass roadblocks, gain access to secured areas, and target vulnerable members of the public. Community members are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious emergency vehicles or activities to authorities.
