GP RESPONSE TEAM
DATE: 04/09/2025

Responders received a report concerning a minor boy who had been assaulted by his father in Grootvlei Oos. Upon arrival, it was found that the father had already left the scene, taking one of the younger children with him.

Further investigation revealed significant alcohol involvement within the household. It was also established that even the minor children had been consuming alcohol and smoking.

The assaulted boy had reportedly been struck in the face by his father, causing him to lose consciousness. Ambulance services and SAPS were notified immediately. SAPS arrested the father, and the injured boy was transported to hospital for medical treatment. He was later discharged.

Responders also contacted a social worker, who confirmed that a follow-up visit would take place on Monday, 8 September 2025, to address concerns related to substance abuse and the children’s lack of school attendance.

OUTCOME:
Suspect arrested. Minor received medical treatment and discharged. Social worker follow-up scheduled. Scene cleared. Responders stood down.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:
NCA extends its gratitude to SAPS, medical personnel, and the social services department for their prompt and professional response.
