On the evening of November 16, 2024, at approximately 21:05, a biological father left his home in Lichtenburg with his 17-month-old son while the mother was in the kitchen. The father did not return, and his phone was switched off. The mother was alerted at around 08:20 the following morning that the father had been seen in Zeerust. The investigation team initiated procedures to activate surveillance cameras, and soon after, it was confirmed that both the father and child were safe and unharmed. The father was on his way to the police station.
As no official missing person report had been filed, the mother was advised to wait for their return. At 08:26 on November 17, 2024, the mother confirmed that the boy had safely returned home. The investigation team has now stood down.
