NCA received an urgent call from a concerned mother reporting that her 33-year-old daughter was missing. The mother had filed a missing person report. After an investigation, it was determined that the daughter and her companion had failed to reach their intended destination. It was confirmed that they had reached Baberton. Despite this, continued follow-up showed they had not arrived at their final location.
With further investigation it was revealed that they were traveling between Baberton and Nelspruit. Eventually, the mother was able to make contact with her daughter. The investigation team collaborated with security firms in Nelspruit, and the pair were located and pulled over on Wednesday. They were taken to the Nelspruit Police Station for questioning under the missing person case.
After speaking with SAPS, the couple was allowed to leave the station. However, on Thursday evening, the investigation team was informed by a guest house owner that the daughter and her companion had been arrested for stealing expensive equipment, which was later sold to a pawn shop. Unfortunately, the equipment had already been resold, and the guest house owner was unable to recover it.
The investigator contacted the lead officer, who confirmed that the individuals were being transferred to Baberton Correctional Facility, and the vehicle had been seized. Following their arrest, the daughter was sent to a rehabilitation center, while her boyfriend, with prior convictions, remained in custody. The case is now closed, and the daughter is receiving the help she needs. We are hopeful for her full recovery.
NCA would like to thank all the role players present for their participation.
