Megan Anderson, a 26-year-old woman, was reported missing by her mother on December 28, 2024. Megan was last seen in Fish Hoek exhibiting erratic behavior under concerning circumstances, and her current whereabouts remain unknown. Below is a timeline of events leading to her disappearance:
On December 27, 2024, Megan attended an event at the Fish Hoek Cricket Club, where her disruptive behavior and was asked to leave.
After leaving the club, Megan walked down Nelson Road towards a bridge over Riverside Road. It is believed she was startled, causing her to change direction and cross the sports field into Valley Walk Street, eventually continuing through The Glade Greenbelt and onto Sycamore Crescent.
At approximately 22:00, a loud scream, likely from a female, was heard near 14 Elm Close in Silverglade. Neighborhood Watch members and private security were mobilized to investigate. Megan was later found walking up Sycamore Crescent, shouting incoherently, likely due to distress.
At 22:30, a patroller engaged Megan and successfully identified her. Attempts to calm her were unsuccessful, and she rejected offers of assistance. A community member experienced in handling distressed individuals arrived with her daughter, who recognized Megan as a former schoolmate. Their intervention helped de-escalate the situation.
With permission from the SAPS, Megan was escorted to her grandmother’s house in Fish Hoek, where she stayed overnight.
On the morning of December 28, 2024, Megan left her grandmother’s house after breakfast with a friend, returning around 12:00. She left again around 15:00, wearing jeans, a black spaghetti top, and a brown hoodie, stating she was meeting someone and would return later that evening.
At approximately 15:40, Megan was last seen on CCTV footage in Links Road, turning right into Kommetjie Road. This is the last confirmed sighting of her.
All known locations frequented by Megan, including residences, workplaces, and acquaintances, have been checked without success. CCTV footage in the areas under investigation is being analyzed for more information on her movements that Saturday afternoon. Areas known for suspicious activities are also under scrutiny.
Authorities are investigating reports that Megan may have been seen with a Nigerian individual. Following a tip suggesting she might be in Wynberg, the task team contacted the Wynberg Improvement managers, who have been informed and will update us upon any sightings.
Several security firms in the Wynberg area have been contacted and are relaying information to their patrol teams. Additionally, information was received that a former colleague saw Megan at a tattoo shop in Cape Town. The task team has reached out to all tattoo shops in the vicinity. One shop owner, who is familiar with Megan, has expressed his full cooperation despite only having contact with her via social media recently. The head of the task team is following up on surveillance cameras and will visit a location where she was frequently seen in Fish Hoek.
On January 7, 2025, a tip from a cancer treatment center in Observatory indicated that Megan had been there just after 14:00, asking for something to eat. A patient recognized her and reported that Megan walked toward Spar Nuttle Road. With permission, the investigation team contacted the patient for further details.
OBSID has been engaged in the Observatory area, and a BOLO has been forwarded, with cooperation assured. Reports of someone matching Megan’s description being seen at 11:55 next to the Red Hill Squatter Camp have been received, but the team considers this to be misinformation as the timeline and locations do not align.
Photos of someone with a similar build and hair color to Megan were reported moving in Long Street. Later, her grandmother confirmed that Megan owned shoes similar to those shown in the photos. A security firm has been tasked with monitoring the area, and information has been shared with the police for follow-up.
Night shift teams will be observing the area throughout the night and will notify us of any developments as the investigation continues.
A friend of Megan’s father reported seeing someone resembling her with a man at Bud Lounge while in the area depicted in the published photos. This information surfaced in the morning, followed by another tip from an old colleague of Megan’s who was distributing flyers in local businesses and was informed of her possible whereabouts.
The team has dedicated significant efforts to verify photographs showing Megan. They engaged with the individual who took the photos, gathering crucial information about the circumstances and observations. They also tracked the route and direction in which Megan was moving, actively following up on anonymous tips received via social media.
Dennis Ras and Gerhard Vissagie from the NCA Missing Persons Task Team located Megan safe and unharmed shortly after 17:00 on January 10, 2025.
NCA would like to thank all the role players present for their participation.
