NCA Missing Persons Task Team
Receives the Mandate to Locate Missing Person Rene Reichert( 39), of Vanderbijlpark. Last contact with Rene was at opproximately 10:00 on 07/03/2025. Information obtained that he was seen on the evening of the 7th of March at a Hotel. Investigators are following up on lead. No positive outcome. Other similar institutions in the area were all visited and missing person was not seen there in the week. No reports received of activities.
09/03/2025 Visits are made at three addresses of interest, person was not at any of them. Hospitals were visited, no person admitted known as Rene Reichert. Investigators went to Shelly Street in Vanderbijlpark to speak to parents and investigate the possibility of CCTV footage. It was unsuccessful.
Information is received that he is with his ex boyfriend. Investigator call number goes to voicemail and leaves a message of urgency. Get the number of ex’s mother and contact her and she happens to be at home with her son in Roodepoort. Investigator interviews ex and explains the situation. According to ex, he did not see him.
A short time later, it was reported that missing person was indeed in Roodepoort and was at the Times Square centre, this Location then changed to the Hillfox Centre just across the road. The ex allegedly found Rene there and when he told him that the family and current friend were on their way and that he had been reported missing Person he lost his temper and got out of the ex’s car and went into the center. Investigator, meanwhile, sent Responder to the scene as well as a security firm that searched the center, he had already left the center. Team moves toward institutions across from Times Square, there is a search on foot and BOLO is shown around, no one has seen him there. Behind Times Square is a wooded area that members searched without success.
17:24.Rene is found at Time Square Centre and is reunited with his next of kin. Task Team standing down.
