FRAUD ALERT REGARDING XP DIESEL & FRIGHT

We are issuing a critical alert to inform the public about a fraudulent scheme involving XP Diesel & Fright.  This operation targets farmers by offering discounted diesel deliveries, posing significant risks to individuals and businesses. Awareness of this scam is essential to protect our community from financial loss.

Key Issues:

  1. Fraudulent Diesel Sales
XP Diesel & Fright contacts farmers, claiming to have excess diesel available at significantly lower prices. This deceptive approach lures victims into paying for fuel that is never delivered. Farmers should be cautious of unsolicited offers that seem too good to be true.
  2. Payment Scams
After agreeing to the sale, victims are instructed to transfer money into the company’s Absa account. Excuses then arise regarding delivery delays, or additional payments are requested before the fuel is unloaded.
  3. False Business Identity
Investigations have revealed that XP Diesel & Fright is operating under fraudulent pretences. The company’s VAT number is non-existent, and its business identity is dissolved. Victims may unknowingly engage with individuals operating under aliases, Elmar Fourie (082 951 8399) and Benrie Fourie (082 951 5399). It is worth noting that their phone numbers differ by only one digit, further raising suspicion. It is also possible that Elmar and Benrie Fourie may be the same person using two different aliases.

New Developments:

  • A fraud case has been opened with SAPS regarding XP Diesel & Fright’s / Benrie Fourie / Elmar Fourie activities – CAS 50/7/2024.
  • We have made contact with Benrie Fourie, who refunded our client R10,000.00 as part of a resolution. However, the remaining amount is still outstanding.
  • It is possible that Benrie Fourie is a fake identity.
  • Both Benrie and Elmar Fourie’s phone numbers are not RICA registered, which is highly suspicious, especially for a company claiming to be a large business like XP Diesel & Fright. The fact that these numbers are not properly registered with the relevant authorities raises concerns about the legitimacy of the company and its operations.
  • The company telephone number listed on the invoice, 010 061 0198, is non-functional, and the address provided does not correspond to an actual business location.

Safety Measures:

  • Stay Alert: Remain vigilant about unsolicited offers, especially those involving financial transactions.
  • Know the Signs: Be wary of requests for upfront payments without a clear contract or delivery assurance.
  • Best Practices: Always verify the legitimacy of a business before making any payments. Use official channels to confirm the identities and operations of companies.
