Reaction members received information regarding two possible Priority 4 victims, an adult and a toddler, at the Westfort Squatter Camp, located west of Elandspoort. Responders arrived on scene together with SAPS (PW 12). The area was immediately secured to ensure the safety of all role players. Pretoria West Detectives were also present on scene. Reaction members assisted by contacting the City of Tshwane (CoT) Electricity Department to request the isolation of electrical power to the affected area. Members from the CoT Atteridgeville Branch arrived on scene and safely removed live, illegally connected electrical cables from beneath the victims, who were located in water. Forensic Services and Gauteng Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene, where both victims were declared deceased. The victims were subsequently removed from the swamp area. Forensic Pathology Services were also present for further processing. Once all procedures were completed, the scene was cleared and all services departed.
