The latest crime statistics released last week show the concerning increase in violent abuse against the vulnerable women and children of our society. Our society seems to be rotten to the core if such horrific crimes are continued to be perpetrated and allowed. Even though President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed these crimes as early as 9 September 2019, he made seven pledges to fight the scourge of rapes and murders of women and children. It is clear that empty promises and even pledges must make way for action.
