In our recent project celebrating National Women’s Day in South Africa, at the start of Women’s Month, we referred to the new law signed into action by President Cyril Ramaphosa, that it is now a crime to not report rape: https://mikebh.link/bplm9L But the picture still seems bleak for the women of South Africa, who are targets of a continuous rage of gender-based violence: 9,516 rape cases have been reported between April 2022 and June 2022 – and this is only the tip of the iceberg as there is overwhelming evidence that most rape cases and other sexual assault cases are never reported.
