Statistics show that a child goes missing in South Africa,
every 5 hours. In the past 18 years over 16000 missing
children have been reported – 25 percent of these children
have never been found. This does not include the number of
cases never reported to authorities. Children are only part of
the vulnerable group when looking at those who go missing –
other vulnerable groups include those suffering from mental
illness or depression, the elderly or those living with
dementia and Alzheimer’s; people with suicidal tendencies,
and those living with intellectual or physical disabilities.
