NCA SUCCESS REPORT
FS RESPONSE TEAM
14 MAY 2026
NCA members responded to information received regarding suspected illegal activity at a transformer site previously monitored the evening before. Upon arrival, members proceeded on foot through dense vegetation toward the location, where approximately six suspects were observed near a riverbed area. As members moved closer, suspects detected the team and immediately opened fire after members activated their lights. Approximately three shots were fired in the direction of members. No return fire was initiated due to poor visibility, dense terrain, and the inability to positively identify all suspects and surrounding areas. SAPS was notified and arrive shortly after. Members immediately took cover and maintained disciplined positions while assessing the high-risk environment. The suspects fled the scene, SAPS also left the scene. Due to the significant danger posed by the terrain and suspect positioning, a decision was made by NCA members to disengage and withdraw safely from the area. The Captain on duty at SAPS was contacted, and a full report was submitted. A VB entry was registered under reference number VB/1018/05/2026. NCA commends all members involved for their professionalism, discipline, and calm decision-making under pressure. Their actions ensured the safety of all members during a potentially life-threatening situation.
NCA extends its sincere appreciation to all role players for their swift response, effective coordination, and professional cooperation during the incident.
