On 13 May 2025, the NCA received a call from a woman in Montana, Pretoria, reporting that her son had stolen her first husband’s vehicle—which had been in her care while he was hospitalized. She also reported that the suspect had taken her firearm. A case was opened at Sinoville Police Station under case number CAS 208/05/2025.
The vehicle’s movements were tracked using surveillance cameras, which indicated it had become stationary.
On the morning of 14 May 2025 at 08:30, the stolen vehicle was located at the Refilwe taxi rank in the Cullinan district. SAPS successfully arrested the suspect and transported him to Sinoville Police Station.
