A NCA Responder received a report from BG Scrap Metals in Bothaville regarding an individual attempting to sell suspected stolen copper. Upon arrival, the Responder promptly contacted the City Council’s Electrician for verification. The electrician confirmed that the copper matched material recently stolen from a substation in the lower part of town.
To prevent the suspect from fleeing, the Responder requested backup from fellow team members. The South African Police Service (SAPS) was notified and responded to the scene. The suspect, along with the recovered copper, was taken into custody and transported to the Bothaville Police Station. Responders stood down after SAPS assumed control.
