BG Scrap Metal in Bothaville requested assistance after a man arrived at the business with suspected stolen copper cable. Responders were activated, and SAPS was contacted.
While responders were on scene waiting for SAPS, another individual entered carrying a bag containing plates. The plates were still covered in oil and appeared to be cooling plates from a substation. SAPS arrived shortly thereafter.
SAPS determined that the small amount of copper in the possession of the first suspect could not be linked to any open case, and no arrest was made.
The individual with the suspected cooling plates from the substation was taken to the police station for questioning. Responders subsequently stood down.
